Here's how you can have your pet registered in Cebu City



Pet owners, the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF) of Cebu City wants you to be accountable for your pets.




Earlier this week, Sunstar reported that the DVMF is currently urging dog owners in Cebu City to have their pets registered. According to full-time city veterinarian, Dr. Alice Utlang, "All dogs should be registered, almost all barangays are doing it, but not all residents have registered their dogs so we are urging them to register."

Since the start of the year, the DVMF has given free rabies shots to dogs and cats that have been registered, even if the owner has not yet paid the P150 registration fee. Back in March, they started to collect the registration fee. However, pet owners who were unable to pay were encouraged to obtain a Certificate of Indigency from the Department of Social Welfare and Services in order to register their pet for free.

The Animal Health Division had already gathered P363,300 from the dogs that have been registered as of April 30. To date, 2,422 pets have already been registered.

This initiative is to reduce stray animals as well as implement the anti-rabies ordinance throughout Cebu City. So far, the DVMF has continued to conduct mass registrations and vaccinations, especially in barangays most affected by such cases.

If you are a pet owner, it's high time you register your pet (if you haven't already). Failure to do so will lead to you receiving a citation ticket as permitted under City Ordinance (CO) 2238 and amended by CO 1802.

Here are the steps needed to register your pet in Cebu City:

  1. Head to the DVMF office in North Reclamation Area (NRA)
  2. Give details of your pet 
  3. Pay registration fee (P150) to CTO Collector
  4. Have your pet vaccinated
  5. Get your Certificate of Registration and Collar upon presenting the receipt
