This woman used Elmer's Glue to whiten her underarms. Did it work?
Women throughout the world have an idea of what beauty should and shouldn't be. In most cases, these women go on an endless debate on how beauty should be observed. But if there's one thing women can agree on, it should be this: dark underarms are a big no-no.
Despite the many cultural norms surrounding it, there is no reason why a woman want want to have dark underarms. And even though it's undesirable and unpleasant to look at, whitening your underarms is a tough job; even impossible, in some cases.
This is why there are women who go through extreme measures to try to have their underarms whiter than before. Many women have tried over-the-counter underarm whitening creams, skin lightening deodorants, and even some expensive underarm laser treatments.
Although there are some women who are able to conquer this, there are those who succumb to their imperfections and just accept the fact that they won't be able to raise their arms in public.
So when this beauty vlogger came up with a DIY underarm whitening mask and shared it on Instagram, we had no reason not to check it out.
In the first part of the video, Khloe Dosh mixes a small amount of Elmer's Glue with a dash of Cayenne Pepper, Turmeric, and Grits. On her post, Khloe explains the different reasons why she chose these ingredients to add to her DIY underarm whitening mask.
- Grits (or Oats): Absorbs and removes excess oil and bacteria, lightens skin, improves skin texture, relieves itchiness, exfoliates dead skin cells, and combats acne.
- Turmeric: Clears acne and scarring, reduces oil, lightens stretch marks, and helps with itchiness or dry skin.
- Cayenne Pepper: Improves the look and feel of skin and the spice gives awkwardly comfortable sensation that helps smell.
- Elmer's Glue: Safe and non-toxic but should be used at own risk.
A peel-off mask may also be substituted for Elmer's Glue, especially if you are allergic to it.
Khloe then mixes the ingredients with a brush until they turn a bright yellow hue, before applying it on the dark areas of her underarms. The vlogger then waits for a few minutes before starting with the exciting part-- peeling off the mask.
She then uses a towel to wipe away the leftovers of the concoction before revealing whiter underarms. Since the results aren't permanent, Khloe recommends that the Elmer's Glue peel mask should be done a few times every week.
Right now, we are following the recipe and documenting the progress of the whitening peel off mask. There are some very minor results that can already be seen after using the mask but again, time will tell if the Elmer's Glue underarm whitening mask truly works or not. But we'll be sure to share the results of our DIY test soon so watch out for it.
